Outstandingly Easy Pork Butt and Root Vegetables Recipe


Bone broth is rich in glycine and gelatin which may improve gut function and may promote skin health (1).

This recipe makes meals for multiple days and will keep for up to a week in the fridge. The rutabaga tastes similar to a white potato but is preferable if you have blood sugar issues or if you don’t tolerate white potatoes.


  • 3 lbs of pork butt with bone
  • 1 lbs of carrots
  • 1 large rutabaga
  • 1 pack of pork or beef marrow bones
  • 1 bulb of fresh garlic
  • Fresh thyme


  1. Peel and dice the rutabaga
  2. Chop the carrots
  3. mince the garlic
  4. remove the stalk from thyme
  5. Add pork butt and bones to a large 7-quart slow cooker/ crock pot, then add the vegetables
  6. Fill the crock pot up with water the top
  7. cook for 8-15 hours
  8. Remove bones and enjoy
